In the car industry, there is a constant battle to see who is the best of the best. This year, it looks like General Motors takes the cake after coming out on top in the J.D. Power Initial Quality Study. The American carmaker continued its winning streak this year after receiving more Initial Quality Awards than any other carmaker in the industry, while also having the most models ranked in the top three in the respective segments.
“We are committed to providing customers with the highest levels of safety, quality, and an exceptional ownership experience,” said Alicia Boler-Davis, senior vice president GM Global Quality and Customer Experience. “Having the most award recipients of any automaker shows that we are on the right track by putting the customer front and center in everything we do.”
The Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Yukon both swept the Large SUV segment, along with the Chevrolet Tahoe, while the Chevrolet Silverado HD and Buick Encore topped their respective segments. In the Midsize Car segment, the Chevy Malibu also came out as the leader, showing that each of GM’s branches is a top performer.
Not only were GM’s vehicles awarded with quality awards, but the company’s plant in Ingersoll, Canada, where the Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain are built, was also awarded a Silver Plant Assembly Line Quality Award.
