2016 Chevrolet Camaro Teaser Possibly Revealed in Detroit

2015 Chevy Camaro – next edition 2016 Chevrolet Camaro Teaser has us interested!

Turns out, Chevrolet had more than just its official displays in mind at the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit earlier this month, when the brand stealthily revealed what might be the first image of the next-generation Camaro.

2016 Chevrolet Camaro Teaser

Naturally, Chevrolet held a press conference at the event, where the automaker aired a slideshow with five new models to be launched this year. Among the images was a heavily silhouetted vehicle, with Camaro-reminiscent shape. Was this a 2016 Chevrolet Camaro teaser?

This model is the sixth generation of the Camaro, a muscle car that has been a staple in the Chevrolet catalog since it premiered in 1968. Hopefully a clear, official picture of the new Camaro will be released soon. Until then, all we really know about the vehicle is that it will get its debut sometime this year.

While we wait, keep in touch with us at Gjovik Auto, or visit to check out our huge selection of vehicles, from Chevrolet and your other favorite GM brands.

GM Engineer Discovers Diapers Can Help Warm Your Car Faster

If you ever heard Mom say, “Waste not; want not,” the chances you rolled your eyes or had a similar response are pretty large. However, General Motors’ Vehicle Thermal Systems engineer, Nicholas Jahn, must have taken the saying to heart because, the next thing we know, diapers are helping to warm your car faster, and all thanks to Jahn.

Snow, when it gets packed into the inlet at the bottom of the windshield, can block the flow of air to and from the vehicle. This makes heating the cabin less efficient and leaves you in the cold for longer than necessary.

In order to combat snow’s effects and improve the efficiency of the car’s heater, Jahn needed to conduct tests. He wanted a substance that would behave like snow in order to make testing more feasible – otherwise he would have to wait for it to actually snow or find an open time slot to conduct tests in GM’s climatic wind tunnels.

So, Jahn decided not to waste the observations he made as his daughter swam in her diapers.

When wet, her diapers expanded. Not exactly a shocking revelation, but upon further research, Jahn found the diapers were partially made of a substance called sodium polyacrylate that behaves like snow when saturated. Conveniently, the sodium polyacrylate can be used in testing at any location and is reusable.

Now that Jahn and his team have been able to improve testing procedures, they’ve also been able to develop a more efficient heating system in vehicles like the Chevy Cruze.

“The last thing anyone wants to do when it’s freezing cold out is scrape their windshield,” Jahn said. “The testing we perform on the Chevrolet Cruze with the diaper material allows us to maximize the car’s heating capabilities.”

So yes, waste not; want not; and stay warm. We at Gjovik Auto guess Mom was right after all.

New Corvette Design Will Influence Future Chevrolet Vehicles

The new Corvette is influencing future Chevrolet vehicles design
2015 Corvette Z06

Chevrolet received a lot of criticism for launching a new Corvette with squared-off headlights rather than round ones, but that hasn’t seemed to have much of an effect on sales in the long run. In fact, the new ‘vette is one of the most decorated cars of the year, and one of the most sought-after at Gjovik Auto.

And so, backlash or no, the automaker is sticking to its styling decision. According to GM design boss Ed Welburn who talked to Automotive News, future Chevrolet vehicles will feature styling influenced by the Corvette’s controversial design.

“As Malibu and Cruze and Volt come to market, you’ll be able to see a subtle link between some of the form vocabulary for all of them and Corvette,” he said. “I always look at the hood of the Corvette and the sectioning, the way it’s taut, very lean, very sporty. That will be a part of really everything we do for Chevrolet.”

Next-Gen Chevy Volt Charging Will be more Convenient Than Ever

Next-Gen Chevy Volt ChargingThe Chevy Volt has been lauded by owners for its accessibility to easy charging. In fact, the US Department of Energy reports that upwards of 80% of all trips by those driving Chevy Volts did not use the range extender.

The next-gen Chevy Volt charging system has been modified to allow for easier verification of the charge status as well easier charging overall. The 2016 model of the Volt is slated to debut in January at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

Improvements Coming for Next-Gen Chevy Volt Charging

Chevy has improved the Volt based on real-world customers and their testimonials. One of the new features is GPS location-based charging. It allows drivers to set a charging preference for their “home” charging location. The vehicle automatically adjusts to the correct settings when it arrives at that location. This feature also allows owners to set their Volts to the local utility rate schedule so they always charge when electricity is the cheapest.

The charge indicators have also been redesigned. The Volt now emits a specially designed tone to indicate when it has started to charge and an additional tone to signify that charging is delayed.

Chevrolet has also extended the length of the charging chord to nearly 25 ft long. At Gjovik Auto, we are glad to represent a brand that takes such care to listen to the consumer, and can assure you that we operate with the same consideration.

Try Not to Stare: Chevy Unveils Conceptual Chaparral 2X Vision GT

Here at Gjovik Auto, we couldn’t believe our eyes when we saw Chevy’s all-new Chaparral 2X Vision GT. The new model is certainly not for the faint of heart, featuring an incredibly futuristic design. Designed for the video game series Gran Turismo, Chevy actually took the liberty of building a model and showcasing it at the LA Auto Show.

Chaparral 2X Vision GT Concept

According to the BBC, the model has 900 horsepower—in theory. The Chaparral 2X Vision GT is essentially conceptual, and, in theory, is driven by a laser-powered lithium ion battery system. Supposedly, this concept has been drawn from aircraft design, but once again, still only exists on a computer screen.

“The Chaparral 2X VGT is a vision of how advanced technology may shape the look and driving experience of racing,” explains Chevy. “Chaparral’s race cars and methods were seen as outlandish four decades ago. The 2X VGT concept might just be a harbinger of motorsports in the next four decades.”

So who cares about a conceptual design, right? While it’s true you won’t be seeing this model on the highway anytime soon, it does provide a foundation for the future of auto design. By thinking outside of the box, automakers like Chevy are paving the way for vehicles that are faster and more efficient than ever before.

Until then, we will have to settle for the amped-up 2015 Chevrolet Camaro with its 426 horspower.  Visit Gjovik Auto in Sandwich, IL and take a Camaro out for a test drive!

New Volt Plug-In Hybrid Will Bring Overall Improvement to the Chevrolet’s Electric Line

Chevrolet’s electric line is getting better and better as plans for the new Volt promise an overall improvement on its performance.

The new Volt plug-in hybrid will be quieter, quicker, and more efficient with a longer range when you kick it into electric mode. Chevrolet has ignored no point when it comes to making the Volt all-around better to keep up with competitors. Chevrolet’s loyal customers deserve the best and those seeking more in their electric vehicles need not look elsewhere to get what they really want.

When Can We Know More about the New Volt Plug-in Hybrid?

Many of the details on the new Volt plug-in hybrid will be held back until the reveal of the 2016 model in January at the Detroit Auto Show. Engineers have revealed that the Volt will have a new 1.5-liter, four-cylinder engine that will act as part of the effort towards a more fuel-efficient Volt.

Larry Nitz, executive director of GM Powertrain’s electrification engineering team, said in the official statement that the larger engine will give drivers the electric car experience they’ve been asking for from the Volt.

Gjovik Auto will be keeping an eye on Detroit in January to see everything that the Volt promises come to fruition. For more news on Chevrolet’s progress in electric vehicles, be sure to check with us weekly!

Customer Satisfaction for Buick and Chevrolet on the Rise

customer satisfaction for Buick is on the riseIn a somewhat surprising turn of events, customer satisfaction for Buick and Chevrolet is on the rise in the American Customer Satisfaction Index, a widely watched consumer survey.

Customer Satisfaction for Buick and Chevrolet on the Rise

While the overall scores for the auto industry fell 1.2 percent, Buick rose 1 percent with Chevrolet gaining an impressive 4 percent. These were the only two automotive brands that made positive ground in the study. The results are based on surveys from 4,360 consumers by phone and email and asked them to evaluate their recent automotive purchase experience (within the past three years).

“A considerable investment in Buick appears to be paying off for General Motors,” Claes Fornell, the study’s author, wrote in the report. “Sales are up 12.5 percent for the first half of the year—the largest increase of any GM car—led by a surge in sales of the Buick Encore.”

Here at Gjovik Auto, we have long been confident in the General Motors brands. Come check out our full lineup of Buick and Chevrolet models to see what many customers find so satisfying.
