Rumor Mill: GMC to Offer Smaller Cars

When you think of GMC vehicles, what springs to mind? Probably a truck, like the Sierra; or an SUV or crossover, like the Terrain. One thing GMC lacks is a choice of smaller vehicles, but all that could change soon. Recent rumors suggest that the truck brand is getting ready to move beyond offering larger vehicles by introducing a vehicle smaller than its current smallest Terrain. When the world—and the automaker—will be ready for GMC to offer smaller cars is up for debate.

Back in 2010 at the Detroit Auto Show, GMC introduced the Granite concept, a compact van-shaped car that would compete with the likes of the Honda Fit. Although this vehicle never made it past the concept stage, it was GMC’s way of showing that it can do more than just build trucks and SUVs. Perhaps now is the time to expand on that idea, and start offering a smaller car that will appeal to urban drivers looking for a car to drive around town.

We will keep our eyes peeled at upcoming auto shows for a sign than a smaller vehicle is coming to the GMC brand. Until then, you can see GMC’s famous trucks and family-friendly SUVs at Gjovik Auto, as well as smaller vehicles available from Chevy and Buick.

Current GMC Yukon to Get Makeover in 2015

GMC Yukon family
2013 GMC Yukon

Ready for the next generation of full-size SUV? GMC certainly is, with its recent announcement of the all-new 2015 Yukon family, including the Yukon XL and Yukon Denali. The redesigned SUVs will come with advanced EcoTec3 engines to deliver what GMC estimates will be segment-leading gas mileage. Although it’ll be another year or so before the all-new 2015 Yukon family hits our streets, the pros at Gjovik are excited to share more about what’s to come!

The all-new Yukon will come with about two inches more legroom in the rear seats, meaning children won’t be the only ones riding in comfort. Each Yukon will also feature an eight-inch color touch-screen radio which comes with available navigation. For parents who like to keep a close eye on their kids, a conversation window will provide a panoramic view of the back seats without needing to turn around while driving. And keyless entry and push-button start are standard, completing the luxurious new touches of the 2015 Yukon.

Although it’s a while before we’ll see one of these beauties in person, Gjovik Auto does offer current Yukon models, plus much more. Stop by and check them out—we’d be happy to let you take one out for a spin!

Diesel Power: Colorado and Canyon to Get Diesel Engines

If you’ve noticed a great deal of hype lately about diesel engines, you’re not the only one. With Chevy releasing a diesel version of its Cruze sedan, it seems that the old stigma about noisy, expensive, smelly diesel engines is a thing of the past. Today’s diesel engines are much cleaner, and offer excellent fuel economy to drivers who are continuing to demand more eco- and wallet-friendly vehicles. And GM is continuing to embrace this trend by offering diesel-powered versions of its upcoming Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon midsize pickup trucks.

According to insiders, GM plans to launch the trucks with a version of either its 2.5-liter or 2.8-liter Duramax turbo diesel engine. These engines are already fitted in the current Colorado, which has taken a one-year hiatus from the U.S., and will return as a redesigned 2014 model, along with its GMC Canyon counterpart. However, the diesel engines likely won’t be available until 2015. This gives GM time to reintroduce its smaller pickup trucks to the market before launching a version offering alternative fuel.

Gjovik Auto looks forward to the return of the Colorado and Canyon. If you’re interesting in switching to a diesel-powered car, check out the diesel versions of the Chevy Cruze and Silverado, as well as the GMC Sierra, available now at our Sandwich, Illinois GM dealer.

Sierra and Silverado: Pickup Trucks with Five-Star Safety Ratings

Cars and minivans typically come equipped with a plethora of safety features designed to keep your family snug and secure. But we often assume trucks are built with one purpose: to get you and all your equipment to work, whether you work on a horse farm, in construction, or mowing grass. Certain trucks, though, are designed with your entire family in mind, providing the very best safety features available. The 2014 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra are the first pickup trucks with five-star safety ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) since the organization changed its testing program back in 2010/2011.

The Silverado and Sierra are both built using high-tensile steel, and offer fully boxed frames. As two incredible pickup trucks with five-star safety ratings, they offer features like Lane Departure Warning, Safety Alert Seat, and Forward Collision Warning. Other safety features include a rear vision camera, seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock disc brakes, and trailer-sway control. And for the safety of you and your passengers, both trucks some with six standard airbags.

If you require the very best safety features around, and long to own a full-size pickup, there are only two choices for you. You can find both the 2014 Chevy Silverado and 2014 GMC Sierra at Gjovik Auto, so stop by and see them for yourself!

GMC Joins Madden NFL 25

Maddden NFL 25 GMC Terrain
All kinds of GMC vehicles, like the Terrain, will appear in Madden NFL 25.

As you’re probably aware, GM is famous for awarding NFL and MLB players who win MVP awards with their very own vehicles. Just last week, the American automaker awarded winning Home Run Derby hitter Yoenis Cespedes with his very own 2014 Chevy Silverado. And last year, Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco received his very own C7 Corvette Stingray. Well, now this tradition is carrying over to the virtual world, with GMC vehicles being featured in the upcoming Madden NFL 25 video game.

In order to feature its vehicles in the Madden game, GMC signed a deal with its makers, EA Sports, to be the official vehicle of the popular game’s 25th edition. This means that you’ll be seeing such GMC giants as the Yukon, Terrain, and Arcadia making cameos while you’re thrashing the opposing team. And the MVP of the Madden NFL Super Bowl will receive a handsome black 2014 GMC Sierra Denali. GMC will also feature heavily in the game with plenty of commercials, banners, and imagery.

At Gjovik Auto, we’re expecting the Sierra Denali to join our already impressive lineup of 2014 Chevy, Buick, and GMC models any time now. Stop by and check them out, and we’ll make you feel like an MVP!
