Buick Adds Rearview Camera as Standard Feature for 2015 Models

Rearview CameraBuick is staying ahead of the curve by installing a rearview camera in each of its 2015 models. That’s right; every single 2015 model will come with the increasingly important technology as a standard feature.

Customers no longer have to pay extra for a feature the automaker realizes most, if not all, of its consumers will want.

“We know our customers are very safety conscious,” said Duncan Aldred, U.S. VP of Buick and GMC. “The current Buick lineup holds many safety accolades, but we are always pushing to be at the forefront with our vehicles being among the safest available.”

In addition to the rearview camera, all 2015 vehicles will also provide owners with a subscription to OnStar Automatic Crash Response, complimentary for the first six months. Advanced safety technologies like Forward Collision Alert, Side Blind Zone Alert, Lane Departure Warning, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert can be added as well.

As a result of the priority given to safety, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has already awarded Buick’s entire 2015 lineup with a 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score for safety.

We at Gjovik Auto, however, aren’t surprised. Excellence is at the core of the Buick brand. See for yourself; check out our current 2015 inventory today.

2016 Buick Verano Prototype Spotted in Germany

2016 Buick VeranoCar and Driver captured some exclusive images recently, discovering the next-generation of the Buick Verano, which will most likely hit dealerships as a 2016 model, sporting camouflage in Germany. The next Verano, Buick’s small sedan based on the same platform as the Chevy Cruze, will be the start of a whole new generation of Veranos, and as far as these photos show, the brand is on the right track.

It’s important to note that the Cruze actually sports a slightly different look depending on if you’re looking at the Asian or American version, and that might carry over to the new Verano. However, no matter what version of the Verano we’re looking at, there are a few things that remain relevant and exciting. Despite the camouflage, here at Gjovik Auto we can tell that the new Verano is big on aerodynamics and just as big on getting smaller.

The Verano looks to be trimming down in size which probably means it will also be adding new, more efficient engine options to the mix. Car and Driver even take some guesses—we could see a 1.4L base engine as well as 2.0L turbo-diesel option. No matter what, one thing’s for sure—we’re going to love the 2016 Buick Verano. And we think you will too.

General Motors Expands Military Discount Program

Military Discount

To show appreciation to those who dedicate their lives to protecting the rest of us, General Motors has expanded its military discount to all U.S. military veterans. This includes those who are currently active duty, in the reserves, retired, and military veterans, no matter the separation date. Spouses are also eligible for the military discount.

“It’s a small token of gratitude from GMC for those that serve this country,” said Duncan Aldred, U.S. vice president of Buick and GMC, in a statement. “We’re very proud of the brand’s history with the U.S. military, but even more so of the men and women that sacrifice for this country, every day.”

Service men and women have until June 30 to take advantage of this special discount. To save even more, it can be combined with most current incentives. The first step to receive the discount is to request an authorization number. This can be done online. Once you have your number, simply take it to your preferred GM dealer and you’re all set.

3 reasons criminals fear the new Chevy Silverado 1500 Police Vehicle

Chevy Silverado 1500Chevrolet has provided police vehicles for years, offering Special Service Vehicle (SSV) trims on models like Impala, Tahoe and Express passenger van.

The Chevy Silverado 1500 was recently added to the ‘line up’ of the Chevy police vehicle portfolio (PPV). Available for sale this summer, the crew cab truck comes equipped with the standard features that make it an in-demand truck plus special upgrades not found on the civilian model.

Reason #1: They have a back seat.

In a movie made 50 years ago, a police officer driving a truck may have sat a suspect in the truck bed and driven him to the one-room jailhouse, but that isn’t allowed anymore.

The Chevy Silverado 1500 crew cab comes with a backseat, so any apprehended criminals can still be transported comfortably. The crew cab option, whether civilian or police, includes large rear doors, allowing for easy loading of “passengers”.

No comfort is spared for the driver, though. The police officer will still get the same comfortable bench or optional bucket seats as a civilian would enjoy.

Reason #2: the Chevy Silverado 1500 SSV will catch you, no matter where you go.

The 2014 Silverado 1500 civilian model is a workhorse designed to traverse rough terrain. With its V-8 engine generating 355 horsepower and 305 lb-ft of torque, this police vehicle will catch any getaway car.

Whether civilian or police, the Chevrolet Silverado has the highest EPA-rated fuel economy, 23 mpg Highway, in its vehicle class, eliminating any worries about it running out of gas during the pursuit.

Reason #3: It won’t run out of power.

With SSV features like spotlamps and flasher system for headlamps and taillights, more electrical power is needed.

The SSV trim includes electrical upgrades to ensure plenty of juice like a 170-amp high-output alternator and high-charge auxiliary battery. Chevy says these features “allow officers to operate lights, radios, computers, cameras and other equipment while parked with the engine turned off, preserving the charge of the vehicle’s primary battery.”

If extra gadgets need to be added, the truck comes with a 110-volt outlet and a four switch, electrical power supply on the center stack.

Plus all the civilian features

The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 SSV includes all the hard-working features of the civilian crew cab model.   The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is available now; come into Gjovik Auto to test drive this outstanding vehicle.
