The Verizon IndyCar Series largely revolves around high speeds and insane acceleration. One factor that makes a major difference is the aerodynamic kits and engines the cars are outfitted with, and Chevrolet recently signed a contract that extended its partnership with the Verizon IndyCar Series as a major parts provider.
Chevrolet’s signing of a contract extension comes at the same time as many other major brands. Honda signed a deal as well; meanwhile, Dallara signed on to continue to be the chassis supplier and Firestone signed on as the tire supplier.
The IndyCar Series plans to revise the rulebook to allow for an all-new chassis designed to bear a much more attractive look. The new chassis will also change air flow, allowing for closer racing.
“It’s another sign of the positive momentum we continue to build as we grow this sport into the next decade,” said Jay Frye, IndyCar president of operations.
While Chevrolet and Honda may be competing automakers, they do share something in common. Both Chevrolet’s director of motorsports and Honda’s president of performance development want to see more automakers join the Verizon IndyCar Series.
Chevrolet’s signing of a multi-year contract solidifies the brand’s involvement in the IndyCar Series for the foreseeable future.
We here at Gjovik Chevrolet are happy to see Chevrolet extending its affiliation with the Indy Car Series!
St. Patrick’s Day is one of the most iconic holidays in the US, especially in the Chicago area. That’s why we here at Gjovik Chevrolet have decided to put together a post on the famous celebration. From dying the river to the famous cuisine, there’s something that everyone can enjoy on this Irish holiday. Read on to learn more about St. Patty’s Day.
According to Choose Chicago, one of the most well-known aspects of the Chicago celebration is the dying of the river. The sparkling emerald green represents the rolling hills of the homeland, something many Irish descendants can identify with. Ireland is often called the Emerald Isle thanks to its beautiful grassy areas. Many buildings on the Chicago Skyline are also lit up in green for the holiday as well.
Other famous traditions include the parade. Many Celtic performances are held along the main roads in Chicago, including dances, music, and more. The Loop parade is among the most popular, though you can also see the parade in other areas of the city.
Finally, St. Patrick’s Day is known for the food and drink. You can grab a green beer, though the most popular drink by far is a dark Irish stout. The best dish for the holiday is corned beef and cabbage—a salt-cured dish that’s ideal with Irish beer and whiskey. There’s no better way to celebrate than to have an Irish meal, watch the parade, and visit the green river.
The harshest season of the year has arrived and if you haven’t been hit with freezing cold winds, ice, and snow yet, there’s still time left to freshen up on proper winter driving etiquette. Driving during winter is unlike any other season and taking to the road unprepared poses more dangers than ever. Here are a few winter driving tips and tricks from us here at Gjovik Chevrolet. Stay safe this winter!
Service – One of the best ways to avoid any mishaps on the road is to keep your car in peak operating condition. That means getting all of the regular maintenance, like oil changes and battery checks, out of the way. Make sure to have your tires inspected for any defects or potential problems. The last thing any driver wants is to be is stranded in the snow!
Slow Down – Driving in winter is unlike hitting the road in any other season. Everything takes longer, which can make speeding around turns a major hazard. Make sure to leave early and give yourself plenty of time to reach your destination.
Fuel Level – Experts suggest keeping your fuel tank at least one-third to halfway full to avoid any problems with the fuel pump or lines. While it may seem like a hassle, more gas means there’s a greater chance your car will start in the icy cold weather!
Some automakers are turning a blind eye to diesel sedans following recent events, but Chevrolet is doing the opposite. While Chevrolet hasn’t released official specifications, the same engine is used in a similar vehicle in Europe. Expect the engine to earn somewhere in the realm of 40 mpg on the highway as well.
The American automaker hasn’t released any pricing details on the Cruze hatchback diesel variant just yet. Expect that announcement sometime in the near future. For now, relish the fact that we’re officially getting a new Chevrolet Cruze diesel sedan for the 2017 model year.

While many people out on the road are excellent drivers, there are plenty of people who motor around like they never went to driving school. Unfortunately, no matter how safe you drive, you have to be thinking about everyone else on the road too. Here are a few tips for driving safely.
Use Your Turn Signals
It may seem a bit elementary, but there are a lot of people out there who simply do not use their turn signals. Just like there are communication breakdowns when talking with people, there are communication breakdowns on the road which can lead to accidents.
Driving over the speed limit on the highway can be tempting, but speeding is one of the leading causes of accidents. In reality, going over the speed limit might only get you to where you’re going a few minutes early, so don’t risk your life and the lives of those around you for those few extra minutes.
Don’t Text and Drive
This one can’t be stressed enough. There is no text worth taking your eyes off of the road to read, so just wait until you get to your destination to read your texts and respond. If it really can’t wait, invest in a car that has Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
As technology improves, we get safer and safer. However, it’s still important that you follow these few simple rules on the road.
General Motors has announced that a prototype military vehicle was development one year ago and now we’re about to see the results. The Chevrolet Colorado ZH2 is a new kind of military vehicle, one that looks to revolutionize the battlefield by being more than just a method of transportation. Chevrolet’s military truck is about to undergo field testing to prove its metal to protect, provide, and persevere under the toughest conditions imaginable.
The Chevrolet Colorado ZH2 is essentially a stretched version of the standard Colorado pickup with bodywork and major modifications inside and out. The truck is powered by hydrogen fuel cells and will effectively be the first military vehicle of its kind. Neither the automaker nor the Army is releasing the specifications for the powertrain, but they did reveal the truck rides on 37-inch tires and a tough suspension.
An Exportable Power Take-Off unit is capable of powering equipment without any need for electrical infrastructure. That’s a major plus on any battlefield.
In order to prepare for the Colorado ZH2, General Motors sent 100 hydrogen fuel-cell Chevrolet Equinoxes out for field testing. Approximately 3.1 million miles later, the automaker is prepared to send the hydrogen-powered Colorado ZH2 to the United States Army to undergo field testing.
Here at Gjovik Auto, we’re proud to see a Chevrolet producing top military equipment for those who defend our country!
Numbers don’t lie, and if the GMC Canyon’s sales boost of 20% over last year is anything to go by, it’s easy to see that drivers love the Canyon. As the smallest truck in GMC’s lineup, the Canyon combines the maneuverability of a light-duty truck without sacrificing power. The newest additions to the GMC Canyon lineup prove that GMC is invested in keeping up the good work by adding new models, packages, and powertrain options.
The most notable addition to the lineup is a luxurious Denali trim. Common on GMC trucks, the Denali name is usually reserved for range-topping trucks with premium features, comforts, and amenities. There’s also a special edition All-Terrain Package that gives the Canyon a bit of off-roading prowess, for drivers who are interested in that sort of thing.
The newest engine in the GMC Canyon lineup is a powerful and efficient 3.6-liter V6 motor, which is mated to an eight-speed transmission. With a performance rating of 308 horsepower and up to 275 lb-ft of torque, the new engine is expected to provide improved fuel efficiency and better towing capacity as well. The new 2017 GMC Canyon with the new trim packages and powertrain options will go on sale sometime later this year.
Summer’s slipping away, temperatures are dropping, the leaves are changing color, and school is back in full swing. While it’s nice to start enjoying chilly evenings inside with a cup of hot cocoa and maybe a few scary movies, there are still plenty of fun fall family activities to do so nobody gets bored as the weather cools down.
Visit a pumpkin patch or orchard: Lots of local farms will allow visitors to pick their own apples or pumpkins when they’re ripe come autumn. It’s an easy and cheap way to get a pumpkin for carving or apples for homemade pies.
Arts and crafts with leaves: Kids love to play with the colorful fall leaves. It’s fun to do creative projects with them!
Go on a hayride: Similar to the pumpkin- and apple-picking option, many farms will often take families on fun hayrides around their farm during harvest season.
Make caramel apples: You could follow up your trip to the orchard by making these sweet treats! Bonus points if you go on a picnic, too.
Brainstorm other fall family activities to do outside with your family. There’s plenty you could do now that was uncomfortable when the weather was just too hot, like camping or going to the local zoo.
