2016 Chevy Cruze is the Most Fuel-Efficient Car in Its Class

Most Fuel-Efficient Car
The all-new 2016 Chevrolet Cruze, which has earned an EPA-estimated 42 mpg highway rating, is the most fuel-efficient car in its class.

The numbers are in and they are looking good for the all-new 2016 Chevrolet Cruze, which has earned an EPA-estimated 42 mpg highway rating, putting it ahead of the competition.

The EPA tested all configurations of the Chevy Cruze, including the L, LS, LT, and Premiere trims, as well as models with a six-speed automatic transmission or a six-speed manual. Thanks to the direct-injected 1.4-liter EcoTec turbocharged four-cylinder, every model with the automatic transmission other than the Premiere was rated at 30 mpg city, 42 mpg highway, and 35 mpg combined. The manual was rated at 30 mpg city, 41 mpg highway, and 34 mpg combined.

That’s better than any of the competition was able to achieve with a four-cylinder engine, including the Ford Focus (40 mpg highway), Hyundai Elantra (37 mpg highway), and Volkswagen Jetta (40 mpg highway).

Part of the reason the 2016 Chevrolet Cruze is the most fuel-efficient car in its class is its leaner architecture, which has helped it lose nearly 250 pounds of weight. In addition, its stop/start technology has bolstered its city fuel economy by about 7%. You won’t want to miss it at Gjovik Auto!

Take Care of Your Car during Car Care Month

Car Care Month
A neglected car can lead to bigger problems down the road, eventually costing you even more money. Because of this, April is recognized as Car Care Month.

Now that spring is here, it is time to get your car ready for any spring and summer road trips you might take. A neglected car can lead to bigger problems down the road, eventually costing you even more money. Because of this, April is recognized as Car Care Month.

In 2014, at car care events held across the country, the Car Care Council found that 84% of vehicles participating in the events were in need of some sort of service or repairs. The biggest problem was oil changes; in fact, 25% of the cars at the events needed an oil change. Other common problems included dirty air filters, worn out windshield wipers, and coolant issues.

Of course, all of these issues on their own are relatively minor. But, if you have more than one of these issues or if you just choose to ignore it, it can lead to much bigger (and more expensive) problems. That is why preventative, routine maintenance is so important.

If you want to take care of your car this month and catch up on its maintenance, schedule an appointment today with us here at Gjovik Auto.

Customer Satisfaction for Buick and Chevrolet on the Rise

customer satisfaction for Buick is on the riseIn a somewhat surprising turn of events, customer satisfaction for Buick and Chevrolet is on the rise in the American Customer Satisfaction Index, a widely watched consumer survey.

Customer Satisfaction for Buick and Chevrolet on the Rise

While the overall scores for the auto industry fell 1.2 percent, Buick rose 1 percent with Chevrolet gaining an impressive 4 percent. These were the only two automotive brands that made positive ground in the study. The results are based on surveys from 4,360 consumers by phone and email and asked them to evaluate their recent automotive purchase experience (within the past three years).

“A considerable investment in Buick appears to be paying off for General Motors,” Claes Fornell, the study’s author, wrote in the report. “Sales are up 12.5 percent for the first half of the year—the largest increase of any GM car—led by a surge in sales of the Buick Encore.”

Here at Gjovik Auto, we have long been confident in the General Motors brands. Come check out our full lineup of Buick and Chevrolet models to see what many customers find so satisfying.

Chevy Volt Owners Blast past Half a Billion All-Electric Miles

Chevy Volt OwnersThe Chevy Volt has been bolting up the EV ranks at an extremely rapid pace, selling extremely well and earning rave reviews all over the place. That success has led the Volt to post over half a billion all-electric miles between its original release in 2010 to now. Chevy Volt owners continually post great fuel numbers while spending up to 63% of their drive time in all-electric mode.

“The fact that most of the folks who purchased the Volt at launch are still enjoying EV range performance on target with when they took delivery is testament to the attention to detail our team paid to delivering on our promise of most people driving all electrically most of the time,” said Pam Fletcher, Chevrolet Volt executive chief engineer.

Here are some more numbers that back up Fletcher’s words. Volt owners, on average, go about 970 miles between gas fill-ups, which keeps them away from the pumps for over a month at a time. The Volt also continues to conquest at an amazing rate—69% of owners are new to GM and more owners trade-in the Toyota Prius for the Volt than any other car. Next-Generation C8 Corvette in the Works

C8 CorvetteThe auto industry never stands still, so it’s not too surprising to learn that Chevrolet is already working on the next-generation C8 Corvette. We’ve barely entered the second model year of the C7Corvette, so it will still be a while before the C8 makes an appearance (maybe 2022), but rumors suggest it may at least come with a hybrid option.

Now before you start thinking about a Corvette that drives like a Prius, realize that hybrid systems in cars like the Corvette, don’t weaken them, they only give them added strength. Many supercars from around the world already use hybrid assist systems, for example, the McLaren P1, Porsche 918, and LaFerrari.

What a hybrid system on the Corvette would do is add a boatload of low end torque that is immediately available, and then the gasoline-powered engine would take care of the rest.

What makes this idea even tastier is the price. Many of the hybrid-powered supercars, already cost tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars more than the Corvette, and with General Motors’ experience with electric propulsion systems (the Chevrolet Volt), adding this technology won’t break the bank or make the Corvette unattainable.

What do you think about adding a hybrid system to a future Corvette? Is there always room for improvement or is this sacred ground?

3 reasons criminals fear the new Chevy Silverado 1500 Police Vehicle

Chevy Silverado 1500Chevrolet has provided police vehicles for years, offering Special Service Vehicle (SSV) trims on models like Impala, Tahoe and Express passenger van.

The Chevy Silverado 1500 was recently added to the ‘line up’ of the Chevy police vehicle portfolio (PPV). Available for sale this summer, the crew cab truck comes equipped with the standard features that make it an in-demand truck plus special upgrades not found on the civilian model.

Reason #1: They have a back seat.

In a movie made 50 years ago, a police officer driving a truck may have sat a suspect in the truck bed and driven him to the one-room jailhouse, but that isn’t allowed anymore.

The Chevy Silverado 1500 crew cab comes with a backseat, so any apprehended criminals can still be transported comfortably. The crew cab option, whether civilian or police, includes large rear doors, allowing for easy loading of “passengers”.

No comfort is spared for the driver, though. The police officer will still get the same comfortable bench or optional bucket seats as a civilian would enjoy.

Reason #2: the Chevy Silverado 1500 SSV will catch you, no matter where you go.

The 2014 Silverado 1500 civilian model is a workhorse designed to traverse rough terrain. With its V-8 engine generating 355 horsepower and 305 lb-ft of torque, this police vehicle will catch any getaway car.

Whether civilian or police, the Chevrolet Silverado has the highest EPA-rated fuel economy, 23 mpg Highway, in its vehicle class, eliminating any worries about it running out of gas during the pursuit.

Reason #3: It won’t run out of power.

With SSV features like spotlamps and flasher system for headlamps and taillights, more electrical power is needed.

The SSV trim includes electrical upgrades to ensure plenty of juice like a 170-amp high-output alternator and high-charge auxiliary battery. Chevy says these features “allow officers to operate lights, radios, computers, cameras and other equipment while parked with the engine turned off, preserving the charge of the vehicle’s primary battery.”

If extra gadgets need to be added, the truck comes with a 110-volt outlet and a four switch, electrical power supply on the center stack.

Plus all the civilian features

The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 SSV includes all the hard-working features of the civilian crew cab model.   The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is available now; come into Gjovik Auto to test drive this outstanding vehicle.

See why the 2014 Chevrolet Impala is known as #TheNew Sanctuary:

How does Edmunds.com choose the winners?

Apparently, Edmunds.com has a lot of time on their hands.

Edmunds.com recently tested 200 cars to find the Top Rated Vehicles being sold today.  Using their standardized road-test loop and test track, the cars are subjected to controlled conditions and each vehicle is assessed against its rivals.  Once the rankings are decided, a grade is assigned in relation to other vehicles in its class and price range.  The cars that perform the best are given an “A” rating and awarded the Top Rated Vehicle Award.

Another honor – the Most Popular Award – is related to the number of unique visitors that visit the model’s pages and reviews at Edmunds.com. The three models in each segment with the most number of distinct visitors win the Most Popular Award.

First 2015 Chevy Corvette Z06 Up for Auction

Corvette Z06Have you ever wondered who gets to buy the first car in a new model? This year, the owner of the first 2015 Corvette Z06 will be determined at the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in April. The highest bidder will drive home in the “most track-capable Corvette” ever, and the Karmanos Cancer Institute will benefit from the proceeds.

Funds raised from the sale will specifically help finance the renovation of Karmanos’ infusion center, which offers a comfortable haven of sorts for patients receiving chemotherapy.

“Chevrolet’s donation of the first 2015 Corvette Z06 produced is yet another way that we are showing our continued support of the Karmanos Cancer Institute,” said Dan Ammann, president of General Motors. “The funds raised from the auction will help further the exceptional patient care that Karmanos is known for in our community and across the country.”

If you’re interested in becoming the first owner of the 2015 Corvette Z06 and supporting the cause but won’t be making the trek to Palm Beach, you can bid online as well. Otherwise, we expect you’ll be able to check out the newest ‘Vette at Gjovik Auto early next year.

Chevrolet Creates Flowtie to Improve Performance of the 2014 Camaro Z/28

FlowtieHow do you optimize performance of the legendary Camaro? By examining every inch of the car and every detail of its design, Chevy engineers discovered even the brand’s logo could be modified to improve performance.

Now dubbed the “Flowtie,” the 2014 Camaro Z/28 features the chrome outline of Chevrolet’s signature bowtie.

“There are engineers in our team that race as a hobby,” said Richard Quinn, Powertrain Cooling Development engineer, “and we used that racer’s mindset to look for ways small or large to get better performance out of the Z/28. Even the smallest details on the Z/28 were weighed for cooling benefit, and this is one that stuck.”

Believe it or not, eliminating that little chunk of metal from the front grille allows enough air to flow through and lower the temperature of the engine oil and coolant by 2ºF. Those two degrees matter as the racecar clocks longer drives around the track.

“The Camaro Z/28 has more than 190 unique parts, compared to a Camaro SS,” the Camaro’s chief engineer, Al Oppenheiser, said. “Like the Flowtie, each of these parts were changed with one objective: to deliver incredible performance on the track – not just for the first lap, but lap, after lap, after lap.”

The Camaro Z/28 is expected to arrive here at Gjovik Auto this spring in all of its Flowtie-glory.
