Austin Dillon, who drives the No. 3 DOW Camaro ZL1 for Chevy Motorsports, won the Daytona 500 in the opener of the 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. Dillon’s win is Chevy’s 24th Daytona 500 win, the highest number of any manufacturer.
Dillon wasn’t the only Chevy driver who placed at the 500, either—three other Chevy Camaro ZL1 drivers were in the top 10; other ZL1 drivers might have finished higher if they hadn’t been involved in several pile-ups during the race. Legends Danica Patrick and Kasey Kahne were among the drivers who fell behind in the crash, finishing 34th and 35th.
There were other races taking place at the Daytona International Speedway, and Chevrolet swept them too. Chevrolet took the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series NextEra Energy Resources 250 with a Silverado and the NASCAR Xfinity Powershares QQQ 300 with a Camaro SS.
At Gjovik Chevy Buick GMC we’re proud to sell these award-winning, race-worthy trucks and muscle cars, which helped our Chevy drivers to incredible victories. For Austin Dillon, this was his first Daytona 500 race win—hopefully of many! Darrell Wallace Jr. placed second in what was only the fifth race of his career so far.
