Edmunds.com awards given to 7 Chevrolet models

2014 edmunds.com awardWhat kind of award show gives nine awards and the winners don’t give speeches?  One of the best awards shows ever, especially for Chevrolet.

The Edmunds.com awards were presented during the 2014 New York International Auto Show.  Chevrolet received 9 Edmunds.com awards for 7 different models.

“Today’s Chevrolet lineup is the best in the brand’s history and these awards from Edmunds.com are further proof that we are delivering the expressive designs, easy-to-use technologies, safety and performance that consumers want,” said Brian Sweeney, U.S. vice president, Chevrolet.

Two Edmunds.com awards for Top Rated

The coveted Top Rated Vehicles Awards were given to the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray and Chevrolet Traverse during the
2014 New York International Auto Show.

Of course the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is known for its V8 performance engine and power on the road.  The Top Rated Award for the coupe also took into account its spacious cargo area, upgraded electronic features and impressive handling.

The 2014 Chevrolet Traverse was recognized as a Top Rated SUV for meeting nearly all of the ‘wants’ a large family is looking for in a large crossover SUV.  Its spacious interior is assumed – plenty of cargo room and seating for 8.  The interior isn’t just big, its also attractive and comfortable with plenty of technological features.

How does Edmunds.com choose the winners?

Apparently, Edmunds.com has a lot of time on their hands.

Edmunds.com recently tested 200 cars to find the Top Rated Vehicles being sold today.  Using their standardized road-test loop and test track, the cars are subjected to controlled conditions and each vehicle is assessed against its rivals.  Once the rankings are decided, a grade is assigned in relation to other vehicles in its class and price range.  The cars that perform the best are given an “A” rating and awarded the Top Rated Vehicle Award.

Another honor – the Most Popular Award – is related to the number of unique visitors that visit the model’s pages and reviews at Edmunds.com. The three models in each segment with the most number of distinct visitors win the Most Popular Award.

The 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray Does It All, Even Snowstorms

Corvette StingrayYou’ve been navigating your vehicle through snow-laden roads all winter wishing spring would hurry up and get here. Imagine swapping your weather-beaten car for the 2014 Corvette Stingray. Let’s just say that according to automotive journalist, Jeffrey Jablansky, the sports car lives up to all those awards it’s received in both the good weather and the bad.

Like much of the U.S. this winter, the snow came fast and at the perfectly wrong time for Jablansky, who was scheduled to test drive the Stingray. He was in the middle of his trip (which may or may not have involved taking his little brother back to college), when the snow began to fall.

Wisely, Jablansky slowed his speed; but in the Stingray, he was still able to truck along at 55 mph through the accumulating snow. He touted the sports car’s ability to confidently handle the slushy roads and the ice, which he later encountered and mastered with the help of the vehicle’s winter tires.

“We were going no faster than 55 mph, but most everyone else was doing 30… That’s the best part about a car so powerful. In one case, where I executed a 1-2-7 shift, the ample low-end torque made highway merging a seamless event.”

When Jablansky and his brother arrived on campus to unpack the Corvette’s surprisingly spacious trunk, the only signs of the hazardous trip were remnants of snow splashed on the Stingray’s yellow body.

There’s nothing like the Chevy Corvette Stingray to turn a mid-trip snowstorm into a winter playground. We at Gjovik Auto love to hear successful road trip stories like this one. Where would you drive the 2014 Corvette Stingray on a snowy day?

Chevrolet recently announced this limited edition run of the Stingray Convertible. What makes this stand out from the crowd will be its unique paint job—a dark green called Lime Rock Green. It also has an exclusive Brownstone suede interior and sporty carbon fiber accents.

Giving the Premiere Edition some extra punch is a Z51 Performance Package, Magnetic Selective Ride Control, and a variable tuned performance exhaust system. Under the hood, the engine is the same as the rest of the Corvette lineup; however, in the trunk you’ll find a set of Corvette branded luggage from Thule.
