Car companies are constantly working hard to make their models more efficient, while at the same time keeping the features and capabilities drivers love. General Motors was able to do this with the full-size, luxurious GMC Yukon Denali.
More Efficient 2015 Yukon Denali
With a new eight-speed transmission, we will get a more efficient 2015 Yukon Denali and Yukon XL Denali. Two-wheel-drive models of the Yukon Denali and Yukon XL Denali now have an EPA-estimated highway mileage of 22 mpg. The EPA rating for the four-wheel drive Yukon Denali rises to 15 mpg in the city.
The new Hydra-Matic 8L90 eight-speed automatic transmission is paired with the 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V8. With this combination, the Yukon Denali delivers a segment-leading 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque.
Even with improved efficiency, the Yukon Denali doesn’t lose any of its capabilities. Tow ratings for both the Yukon Denali (8,400 pounds) and Yukon XL Denali (8,100) are unchanged.
Full-size SUVs have their pros – seating, versatility, cargo space. Fuel economy, however, is generally not one of the features automakers highlight…until now. Both Chevrolet’s and GMC’s full-size SUV models now boast increased highway fuel efficiency by close to 10 percent for the 2015 model year.
The Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban and the GMC Yukon and Yukon XL are two-wheel drive utility vehicles equipped with a standard 5.3-liter engine that earns 23 mpg on the highway. Cruising through city streets, the SUVs get 16 miles per gallon, a seven percent increase over the previous model year.
The 2015 Yukon Denali and Yukon XL Denali vehicles are equipped with a 6.2-liter V8 engine. Even with the segment’s best power and handling, these vehicles deliver 15 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway.

Ready for the next generation of full-size SUV? GMC certainly is, with its recent announcement of the all-new 2015 Yukon family, including the Yukon XL and Yukon Denali. The redesigned SUVs will come with advanced EcoTec3 engines to deliver what GMC estimates will be segment-leading gas mileage. The all-new Yukon will come with about two inches more legroom in the rear seats, meaning children won’t be the only ones riding in comfort. Each Yukon will also feature an eight-inch color touch-screen radio which comes with available navigation. For parents who like to keep a close eye on their kids, a conversation window will provide a panoramic view of the back seats without needing to turn around while driving. And keyless entry and push-button start are standard, completing the luxurious new touches of the 2015 Yukon.
Although it’s a while before we’ll see one of these beauties in person, Gjovik Auto does offer current Yukon models, plus much more. Stop by and check them out—we’d be happy to let you take one out for a spin!
